JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville Jaguars are heading to England each of the next four seasons and now have an easy answer for where to practice. Owner Shad Khan is set to buy Fulham, an English Premier League soccer team, with the club announcing the sale on Saturday at 8 am EST. The sale has been approved by the Premier League and is expected to be in the $225-300 million range.

Khan:  “I was recently very fortunate to have been introduced to Mohamed Al Fayed, a man I respect and admire immensely for what he has accomplished in his life and – above all – what he has given others.  Today, he is giving me the privilege and responsibility of serving as the next custodian of Fulham Football Club.  I am extremely honoured to accept and want to thank him, on behalf of everyone who loves Fulham, for 16 years of exceptional service to the Club.  Mr Al Fayed rescued the club in its hour of need and has led it to a sustained place within the Premier League.

“Fulham is the perfect club at the perfect time for me.  I want to be clear, I do not view myself so much as the owner of Fulham, but a custodian of the club on behalf of its fans.  My priority is to ensure the club and Craven Cottage each have a viable and sustainable Premier League future that fans of present and future generations can be proud of. We will manage the club’s financial and operational affairs with prudence and care, with youth development and community programs as fundamentally important elements of Fulham’s future.”

Khan will be the sixth American owner in the EPL and joins Malcolm Glazer (Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Manchester United) and Stan Kroenke (St. Louis Rams and Arsenal) as owners with teams in both the NFL and EPL. The move also strengthens the Jaguars ties overseas with Jacksonville looking to build a fan base in England.

It's also good news for soccer fans here in Jacksonville with Fulham expected to visit Northeast Florida and play games at Everbank Field. Fulham FC is located in Southwest London and finished 12th in the 20 team English Premier League last year.

I do. "I'm a lover not a fighter" and it's a proven fact SPORTS of any kind keeps our kids busy and HOPEFULLY out of trouble. Since it seems football has more thugs than wins, time to change up the game! Soccer is a wonderful sport...so don't knock it til you try it. I think we could use a much larger variety of sports here in Jacksonville, kids learn discipline, humility, victory, humbleness, and PRIDE with the hard work of playing, whether they win or lose. There would be LESS thugs in the street if they had a game/practice to go to regularly. I think we need to support ANYBODY that's trying to improve Jax for the future of our kids. That's why I care.
