JACKSONVILLE – The Southern League announced Thursday Jacksonville Suns relievers Arquimedes Caminero and Collin Cargill have been added to the South Division squad for the 2013 Southern League All-Star Game, which the Suns will host at Bragan Field on July 17 at 7:05 p.m. Including Caminero and Cargill the Suns will have seven players represented in the contest, while Suns skipper Andy Barkett will also manage the South Division team.
Caminero, who is tied for the team-lead with 29 appearances this year, has accumulated a 3-1 record and 3.99 ERA (17 ER in 38.1 IP), striking out 49. Dating back to April 28, the native of the Dominican Republic has compiled a 1-0 record and 1.38 ERA (4 ER in 26.0 IP) in his last 20 appearances. Caminero was signed by the Marlins as a non-drafted free agent on May 25, 2005.
The 25-year-old Cargill owns a 2-1 record and 1.07 ERA (4 ER in 33.2 IP) in his appearances for Jacksonville this year. The right-hander has not yielded an earned run in all but three of those 21 outings this season, including 11 consecutive appearances dating back to May 19. The Mississippi native was selected by the Marlins in the 22ndd round of the 2010 draft out of the University of Southern Mississippi.
Caminero and Cargill will join Suns outfielder Jake Marisnick, as well as starting pitchers Adam Conley, Sam Dyson and Jay Jackson, along with relief pitcher Michael Brady on the South Division All-Star roster. Former Suns outfielder Kyle Jensen was also honored by the Southern League as an All-Star but will not participate in the contest due to his promotion to Triple-A New Orleans.
The two replace Mobile BayBears starting pitcher Archie Bradley and Montgomery Biscuits starting pitcher Enny Romero on the South Division roster. Bradley is unable to participate as he was selected to play in the Sirius XM All-Star Futures Game in New York, while Romero is not available due to his promotion to the Triple-A level.
The Suns will host the 2013 Southern League All-Star Game at Bragan Field on July 17 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are still available and can be purchased online at JaxSuns.com, or at the box office at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.
