Suns long time owner dies at age 89

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The ringing of the bell at the Baseball Grounds will never sound the same again.

The man that always rang the old CSX bell after a Jacksonville Suns has died at the age of 89.  Peter Bragan, Sr. died this weekend according to the family and the Suns organization.  The cause of death was not released.

Bragan, Sr. turned 89 years old on July 3rd and his health had depleted in recent months.

Bragan, Sr. purchased the minor league franchise in 1984 and led the organization to Southern League Championships on five different occasions.  "Pappa" along with his son "Pedro" were named Executives of the Year in 2004 and won numerous other awards.

The Suns were playing on the road in Huntsville on Saturday night.
