JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The New York Jets passed over Tim Tebow for the starting quarterback job this week and that decision could lead to the backup's departure from the big apple.

Jets head coach Rex Ryan benched struggling starting qb Mark Sanchez after a five turnover game on Monday night.  Instead, of giving Tebow the nod this week, Ryan chose to go with third string quarterback Greg McElroy.  The former Alabama star wasn't active on Monday night, but did lead the Jets to a win a few weeks ago against Arizona.

"Obviously, I"m disappointed," said Tebow on Wednesday.  "They thought that was the best decision for this organization.  I might not agree, but I still respect it."

Tebow had little to say about leaving the Jets after the season, but acknowledged he'll need to reflect on his role this past season.

"I'll wait until after the season to talk about anything like that," said Tebow.
