PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. --The skies are blue and everybody likes their chances on Tuesday at THE PLAYERS
Tour leaders are predicting record crowds for the 40th PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP, so much that tournament director Matt Rapp is suggesting that people take advantage of the carpooling options because parking will be limited. If you can stuff four or more people in a car, parking is free.
The crowds will grow as the week goes on just like the tournament has grown over the years.
In 1974 this was known as the Tournament Players Championship. The purse was $250,000, now it is $9.5 million. First place paid $50,000, it's grown to $1.7 million in 2013.
It all starts Thursday with the 7:15 tee times. Come on out and check out THE PLAYERS. It's the best field in golf.
