Katie McKee is a general assignment reporter at Action News Jax.

She joined Action News Jax in March 2015.

Katie spent the last 3 years in South Carolina’s state capitol.

While in Columbia, she worked as a reporter for the local Fox affiliate.

During her time there, she broke what would later become a nationally covered story about missing 15-year-old cheerleader Gabbiee Swainson. Swainson went missing from her home in Northeast Columbia in 2012 and was found nearly a year later after her mother’s boyfriend confessed to kidnapping and killing her. Not long before Swainson’s body was found, Katie took a job as a reporter at WIS News 10 also in Columbia and continued covering the case.

As WIS’s morning reporter, she covered several breaking news stories that also received national attention.

She reported on a mass murder-suicide in Greenwood, SC and a Lexington man who was arrested for killing his 5 children in what ended up as a multi-state investigation.

While Katie has spent the last several years in the Southeast, she is an Ohio girl at heart.

After growing up in Springfield, Ohio, she attended Ohio University, and graduated in 2009 with a degree in Political Science.

Katie is always looking for stories that will make an impact and effect change in the community.
