May 29, 2013 – State Employees Credit Union will hold a Community Shred Day and Food Drive on Friday, June 7 in both Jacksonville and Tallahassee. From 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., trucks from Ultrashred (www.ultrashredtech.com) will be parked at SECU’s Jacksonville Branch located at 401 West First Street in Jacksonville and at SECU’s Capital Circle Branch located at 2770 Capital Circle SE in Tallahassee. Both members and non-members are welcome to bring personal documents to be securely shredded (individuals only, no businesses please). At the same time, non-perishable food items will be collected for Second Harvest Food Bank (www.wenourishhope.org in Jacksonville and www.fightinghunger.org in Tallahassee) at both locations.
The shredding event is free, open to the public and refreshments will be served while they last.
"Properly disposing of materials that contain personal information is one of the best ways to guard against identity theft," stated Paul E Numbers Jr, CEO. "We welcome the entire community to take advantage of this free service during our Community Shred Day, and thank everyone for helping to provide much-needed food for our community through Second Harvest Food Bank.”
Full details of the event including specifics about acceptable documents and fasteners, and most-needed food items can be found on the credit union’s website at www.secufl.org.
