With so many out of work, one local employer asks, “where are all the job seekers?”
Local contractor is hiring, but can’t find qualified candidates.
Jacksonville, FL, Sept 26, 2011: With August unemployment at 10.4% in Metro Jacksonville, you would think it’s easy to find new employees – particularly in construction where so many people are out of work. But that is NOT the case for one local Jacksonville painting company. Jason Parker, owner of Performance Painting, says, “We have been trying for over 3 months to hire 8 to 10 new team members. We run ads in newspapers, craigslist, online, ask for recommendations and have posted the position in paint stores. We simply aren’t getting enough qualified candidates.”
So where are all the out-of-work candidates? Performance Painting isn’t sure. They are now expanding their search by hosting a job fair. They hope to fill 8 to 10 positions, including project managers, crew leaders, painters and trainees. Applicants will be asked to take an aptitude test and bring identification, past work history, professional references and contact information. The job fair will be on October 8, 2011 from 9am to noon at their offices at 3653 Regent Blvd, Suite 601, 32224.
Admittedly Performance Painting runs a different kind of painting business. They’re looking for long term employees to join their fast growing company. They want candidates who are hard working, motivated, energetic and work with a smile. They must also pass a background check and drug test. “Performance Painting is not your typical contractor that paints. We offer full time employment, with a stable work flow, great wages, company clothing, paid training, health care benefits, incentives and the opportunity for advancement, “says Bill Zambie the Vice President of Operations.
