"Talking the Tropics With Mike": Unsettled Caribbean - Nov. 26th

Nov. 26, 2016 — "Otto" has moved well west over the Eastern Pacific while weakening.  Since the tropical cyclone remained intact across Central America before moving over the E. Pacific, the name will "stick" according to the NHC.

Meanwhile.... the Caribbean -- Southern Caribbean in paricular -- remains rather unsettled with quite a bit of convection.  No orgnanization evident but rough seas & surf, gusty winds & heavy downpours will continue south of Jamaica & east of Central America all the way to the coast of S. America.

Water vapor imagery:

The wind shear (red lines represent strongest shear) analysis.  "Otto" is couched in area of low shear as the hurricane moves into Central America.....

East Atlantic:

There is still a quite a bit of warm water to help "feed" tropical cyclones.  Water temps. of 28 degrees Celsius equate to 82 degrees Fahrenheit & those water temps. are starting to shift south with the change of seasons.  Tropical cyclones generally need at least 80 degree water to thrive.

Sea surface temps. vs. average.  Sea surface temps. have turned a little cooler than average around Florida north up the Carolina coast while "toasty" water is underneath "Otto".
