Attendees like Lily and Hannah noted the energetic atmosphere of fans mixing team loyalties.

“We got a little friendship rivalry with the Jags and the Eagles, so we all had to come out and watch the game together.”

With the NFL hosting a game in London involving the Jaguars for its 14th consecutive season, local supporters say the international series continues to build a strong global presence for Jacksonville.

Sunday’s damp conditions also sparked nostalgic comparisons to past international matchups.

“It was very rainy last year. The whole game against the Rams was very, very rainy,” said a Jags fan. “So it’s giving a little bit of that vibe.”

Fans plan to keep the momentum going bright and early next week as the Jaguars prepare to face off against the Texans at Wembley Stadium in London.

>>> STREAM ACTION NEWS JAX LIVE <<<

[DOWNLOAD: Free Action News Jax app for alerts as news breaks]

[SIGN UP: Action News Jax Daily Headlines Newsletter]

Click here to download the free Action News Jax news and weather apps, click here to download the Action News Jax Now app for your smart TV and click here to stream Action News Jax live.

FINAL: 19-17 | The Jacksonville Jaguars defeat the Philadelphia Eagles in London

Jenna Bartkovsky

Watch the Jacksonville Jaguars take on the Philadelphia Eagles in London on FOX30 at 9:30 a.m. | Check back here for live updates during the game!

Action Sports Jax’s Countdown to Kickoff airs from 8:30 a.m. until 9 a.m. on FOX30.

You can watch the game starting at 9:30 a.m. on FOX30.

Check back here for live updates during the game.

You can also watch the postgame show streaming on our platforms and later on YouTube.

>>> STREAM ACTION SPORTS JAX 24/7 LIVE <<<

FINAL: JAGS 19, EAGLES 17

1:14 PM: C.Little 57 yard field goal is GOOD

1:10 PM: Eagles’ J.Elliott 48 yard field goal is GOOD.

JAGS 16, EAGLES 14

12:40 PM: T.Lawrence pass deep right to P.Washington for 27 yards, TOUCHDOWN. It was the agency’s 15th officer-involved shooting this year.

Officers were called at 10:16 a.m. to Mar Vic Lane and Dunn Avenue, after a caller reported a black woman was pointing a gun at a white man.

Four officers arrived at 10:22 a.m. and determined she was the same person deputies had been unable to find a day earlier, the undersheriff said.

The woman was yelling at officers and carrying bags, which she repeatedly reached into, officials said. Officers asked her at least four times to show her hands, but she did not comply and kept walking away, the undersheriff said.

Officers followed her for about a quarter-mile, giving commands. At one point, an officer said he believed she had a gun.

At 10:34 a.m., at the intersection of Mar Vic and Biscayne avenues, she pulled a gun from a bag and fired once, hitting the driver’s side door of a patrol vehicle, the undersheriff said.

Officers were walking alongside the vehicle for cover. Three of them returned fire multiple times, striking her. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have not released her name because her next of kin had not been notified. The undersheriff said the officers’ names would be released under Marsy’s Law.

The woman was linked to two earlier calls Saturday, the undersheriff said. At 9:15 a.m. on Satuday, a 911 caller reported a Black woman dressed in purple waving a gun in the 10600 block of Monaco Drive.

About an hour later, at 10:12 a.m., officers were sent to the 10600 block of Briar Cliff Road East, where a caller said a Black woman wearing purple pointed a gun at the caller and the caller’s dog. Officers did not find her either time on Saturday.

When asked whether officers could have de-escalated the situation, given a neighbor’s account that she appeared to be going through a mental health crisis, the undersheriff said that following her, repeatedly asking her to show her hands and eventually telling her to drop the gun was the de-escalation.

“How else do you de-escalate something?” he said.

The undersheriff said he did not have any history on the woman and was not aware of other calls beyond the two on Saturday, though investigators may find more.

The homicide cold case unit and the crime scene unit are investigating, and the State Attorney’s Office is conducting an independent investigation, officials said.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has confirmed an officer-involved shooting occurred in a Northside neighborhood Sunday.

JSO has taped off Mar Vic Lane at Dunn Avenue and Biscayne Boulevard.

The sheriff’s office said the shooting happened on Dunn Avenue and Pine Estates Road East. Our crew at the scene is reporting numerous police vehicles and crime scene tape.

JSO was unable to provide any additional information at this time. Officials are expected to give a briefing later this afternoon.

Action News Jax is working to learn more.

This is a developing story.

Here’s why over 700 bicyclists are traveling along A1A from Ponte Vedra to Daytona Beach

Jessica Salinas

Several hundred participants in the two-day event are cycling routes ranging between 36 and 100 miles along the coastline.

More than 700 cyclists took to the road Saturday along A1A toward Daytona for Bike MS: Cycle to the Shore. The ride aims to bring greater awareness, support and funding to individuals affected by multiple sclerosis.

Participants in the two-day event are cycling routes ranging between 36 and 100 miles along the coastline. More than 1 million people in the United States live with MS, a neurodegenerative condition that currently has no known cure.

Robin Nunley, executive director of the Florida National MS Society, noted the impact of the fundraising efforts. “We will raise almost a million dollars for the National MS Society through this event,” Nunley said.

Among the cyclists undertaking the trek was Selena Buongiorno, a rider living with multiple sclerosis who set out from Ponte Vedra for the 100-mile route. “Multiple sclerosis currently has no cure. So we’re trying to just raise money for research to ultimately find that cure,” Buongiorno said.

Buongiorno, who also raises awareness by discussing her experience on her podcast, described the hidden struggles associated with the condition. “A lot of times it’s an invisible illness, so we don’t always see the battle people are fighting,” Buongiorno said. “It’s just a lot of perseverance and trying to push through the pain because that’s my biggest symptom.”

She emphasized her determination to continue participating in Bike MS rides despite the physical toll of training. “It’s a hundred miles. I’m extremely stubborn, which makes the training even worse because I’ll lay on the floor, get myself together and then get back up again,” Buongiorno said.

Cyclists will cross the finish line tomorrow as the two-day event officially concludes.

>>> He gave his brother’s Social Security number to verify his identity.

Ryan had his picture taken for a replacement license in his brother’s name. However, the Bureau of Motor Vehicles Fraud Division confirmed that the man applying for the license was Ryan, not his brother, Flagler County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post on Saturday.

“This guy certainly won’t win the brother of the year award,” Flagler Sheriff Rick Staly said. “This is just a series of stupid decisions by Ryan to skirt the law.”

The sheriff’s office detectives obtained an arrest warrant on October 8 for Ryan for obtaining a driver’s license by fraud.

“First, he drives drunk. Big mistake,” Staly said. “Then he tries to get around the suspension of his license by posing as his brother, thinking he wouldn’t get caught.”

Ryan turned himself in on the warrant for obtaining a driver’s license by fraud. He is being held at the St. Johns County Jail on a $2,500 bond.

Isaias serves as a reminder of the importance of volunteers’ work restoring beaches

Jessica Salinas

Volunteers expect to pull over 1,500 pounds of invasive plants in Jacksonville for a beach dune restoration. Within the first hour alone, organizers confirmed they had successfully removed over 700 pounds of non-native vegetation, with total expectations aiming for nearly 2,000 pounds by the end of the day.

The environmental cleanup worked as part of Florida National Climate Week, a statewide initiative highlighting localized efforts to combat ecological damage and boost climate resilience.

The primary target of the cleanup is a destructive succulent known colloquially as “Mother of Millions” (Kalanchoe).

“Every leaf has hundreds of plantlets on it. Every plantlet can make a new plant,” explained Eli Cunningham of the Surfrider Foundation. “So it spreads like wildfire and it chokes out our native plants.”

Invasive species like Kalanchoe possess shallow root systems. According to Surfrider’s Katie Bauman, these shallow roots overcrowd the area, making it increasingly difficult for deeply anchored native plants to survive. “We’re out here making our dunes stronger, healthy,” Bauman said.

[DOWNLOAD: Free Action News Jax app for alerts as news breaks]

Organizers stressed that maintaining a balanced, native ecosystem is vital to protecting the town from worsening coastal weather. In the wake of structural reminders left behind by storms like Hurricane Isaias, experts emphasize that a natural dune barrier offers far superior security than man-made infrastructure.

“A healthy dune system can absorb wave energy, can slow erosion, and can stop those tides that are coming in from Nor’easters, from the King Tides, from storms during hurricane season,” Cunningham said. He noted that robust dunes serve as the community’s first and best line of defense—outperforming rock walls, steel barriers, or traditional seawalls.

By removing the foreign weeds, volunteers are giving native species the vital space they need to multiply. “We’re giving the natural plants more room to expand and anchor the dunes in place to protect our community,” Cunningham added.

[SIGN UP: Action News Jax Daily Headlines Newsletter]

The Surfrider Foundation plans to return and do more work at the Jacksonville Beach dunes in March to monitor the growth of the cleared areas. The group is also exploring future initiatives to actively plant more native species to further reinforce the shoreline.

Local officials issued a reminder to beachgoers that while the invasive plants pose an ecological risk, residents should not attempt to pull them on their own. Dune restoration requires strict environmental oversight, and organizers had to secure a special permit to execute the cleanup.

Click here to download the free Action News Jax news and weather apps, click here to download the Action News Jax Now app for your smart TV and click here to stream Action News Jax live.

Talking the Tropics w/Mike: Isais remnants still dropping heavy rain..Rachel near SoCal.Simon-Mexico

Mike Buresh

An overview of what's going on in the tropics....

THE TROPICS:

***** ALWAYS CHECK & RE-CHECK THE LATEST FORECAST & UPDATES! ****

This blog is written & updated daily by *me* - Mike Buresh.

Tropics threats/impacts for Jacksonville/NE Florida/SE Georgia: Peripheral lingering outer bands loosely connected to what’s left of Isaias well to the north exit by later Sunday. Rough seas & surf are diminishing with an offshore wind - out of the west - taking over.

The Atlantic Basin Overview:

The Atlantic hurricane season is June 1st through Nov. 30th. The peak of the season is September 10th.

The average date of the ninth named storm of the season is September 9th (8 so far)... first Atlantic hurricane avg. date is Aug. 11 (none this season so far).

** A tropical wave over the far Eastern Atlantic off the coast of Africa has a small window of opportunity to organize before encountering strong wind shear. Some heavy rain & gusty winds for the Cape Verde Islands but the wave will not be able to make it very west before turning northward.

** The NHC upgraded the area of low pressure over the Western Gulf to tropical depression #9 Tue. afternoon & to tropical depression “Isaias” early Wednesday followed by rapid intensification to a hurricane Wed. evening about 11:30pm - the first hurricane of the Atlantic season... & became a Cat. 3 Fri. morning... & made landfall near Destin in the far Western Fl. Panhandle about 9:30pm EDT with strongest winds estimated to be near 105 mph (165 km/h)/Cat. 2. The estimated minimum central pressure was 971 mb (28.67 inches). Isaias quickly became post-tropical (typical of tropical systems later in the season once making landfall) early Saturday morning. The intensity leveled off then decreased some upon approach to the coast due to strong westerly wind shear & some dry air intrusion. Still... Isaias - the first U.S. landfalling hurricane since Milton in 2024 - & its impacts were significant - major near & just east of the eye - from Southeast Mississippi to especially Southeast Alabama to the Central & Western Fl. Panhandle with strong winds, heavy rain, flooding & tornadoes.

( “Isaias” (repeat from 2020) was memorable 6 years ago for the flooding & tornado outbreak from the Carolina’s to Mid-Atlantic to New England.)

Isaias continues weakening well inland as the remnant low pressure system turns more northeast through the Tennessee Valley & eventually Mid-Atlantic states still dropping heavy rain & triggering isolated tornadoes.

A combination of factors made the forecast for Isaias - especially the intensity - challenging to say the least. The AI models did quite well even with genesis which has often been a shortcoming. But a shout out to the ol’ & often much maligned American GFS model for also sniffing out this one many days in advance. The European model had its share of problems. The UKMET model did pretty well overall.

Wind shear was strong - out of the west/southwest at 25-40+ mph across the Northern Gulf but was weaker during formative stages through early Friday farther to the south. There was a fair amount of dry mid & upper level air advancing from the north toward the Northwest Gulf arriving in tandem with landfall at which point the underside (south) of Isaias was quickly scoured away. This surge of dry air from west to east will enhance the wind & possibly tornado threat Saturday to the east of Isaias’s track.

Working in favor of Isaias - the Gulf was plenty warm. In fact, the hurricane passed over an eddy of very deep warm ocean water over the Central Gulf. Reasonably strong upper level divergence (air spreading apart/a “chimney” effect) due to the proximity of an upper level trough to the north was also helpful. And last but not least, a MJO “pulse” is in a favorable position to enhance tropical activity over the Atlantic Basin, particularly the Gulf.

South Fl. Strong wind shear has dominated much of the Atlantic Basin - especially south of about 20 degrees N. Dry air = yellow/orange/red/pink. Widespread dust is indicative of dry air that *can* interfere with the development of tropical cyclones. However, sometimes “wanna’ be” waves will just wait until they get to the other side of - or away from - the dust plume then try to develop if other conditions are favorable (we saw this with Beryl & Debby last year). It’s my personal opinion that there is way too much “hoopla” about the presence of Saharan dust & how it relates to tropical cyclones. In any case, the peak of Saharan dust typically is in June & July, & we are indeed seeing a large “blobs” of Saharan dust over the Central & Eastern Atlantic that’s thinning with westward extent but enough of it to make for hazy skies across the Caribbean & - at times - across parts of Florida.

2026 names..... “Josephine” is the next name on the Atlantic list (names are picked at random by the World Meteorological Organization... repeat every 6 years). They sent water spraying across roadways as drivers navigated flooded streets.

Action News Jax’s First Alert Weather Team says many areas have received more than a foot of rain so far this month.

In parts of the Historic District, floodwaters appeared to be roughly eight inches deep. Cars moving through the area created waves that washed toward sidewalks with each pass.

Despite the flooding, some visitors said the conditions were not enough to derail their plans.

“We just love, you know, walking through tide pools,” said Josh D’Amor, who’s vacationing in St. Augustine with his wife. “We’ve just been making sure I don’tsee a gator pop up or anything like that.”

Social media videos highlighted some of the challenges drivers faced through other parts of the city.

One Facebook video recorded Friday night at Sunset Grille in St. Augustine Beach showed a man attempting to move his car after becoming stuck in floodwater along State Route A1A.

Doug Willis, who lives about a half-mile from the area, said conditions around his neighborhood were also severe.

“Our backyard did have water up over the ankles, and the street behind us, they flooded up to your knee,” Willis said.

Action News Jax will continue monitoring floodwaters, which are expected to recede as Post-tropical Cyclone Isaias continues to move north and the area begins to dry out.>>> STREAM ACTION NEWS JAX LIVE <<<

First Alert Weather Day on Saturday, improving weather Sunday

Action News Jax First Alert Weather Team

Scattered storms and lightning expected tonight as Isaias moves north, followed by a sunny and drier forecast starting Monday.

Here’s what the First Alert Weather Team said you can expect for the forecast:

Post-Tropical Cyclone Isaias continues to weaken as it lifts northward through Central Alabama

RIGHT NOW: It is hot and humid across the area with tropical air in place and the outer rainbands of Isaias tracking through the Big Bend and stretching up through our inland communities.

Scattered thunderstorms with lightning, heavy rain and gusty winds will continue across our area through the remainder of the evening Saturday.

The highest tornado threat is north of our viewing area in Southeast Georgia.

Many neighborhoods have seen at least 12″ of rain so far this month and the ground is completely saturated.
