Brittney Verner

Brittney Verner joined the Action News Jax team in January 2019.

She’s originally from Detroit, MI and graduated from Oakland University in June 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. She fell in love with news as a little girl growing up watching it with her grandparents. She had her first real taste of the industry while interning at WJBK, Fox 2 Detroit.

Brittney came to Action News Jax from KSDK St. Louis, MO. Before that she worked KXXV, the ABC affiliate in central Texas. During her time there, she worked on many major breaking stories, including covering the victims who were evacuated during Hurricane Harvey. She also volunteered her time to put together care packages for victims, which included clothes and toiletries.

Brittney loves being part of her community through volunteering. She previously spearheaded a literacy program in St. Louis called “Reading with the Stars” where she raised funds to donate hundreds of books to children in underprivileged communities. She’s currently a mentor and has a true passion for helping children and adolescents work toward success while encouraging literacy and professionalism.

“It’s a privilege to have the opportunity to equip the community I live and work in with information they need in their daily lives,” Brittney said.

Brittney enjoys meeting new people, trying new restaurants, traveling and telling the stories that matter most to the community.

If you see her around don’t be shy, just say hi. She loves greeting new faces with a smile.
