Kid care: Two local day care centers receive high scores

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Two local child care centers have received high scores on their state inspections, with 18 clean reports between them.

The Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) inspectors are looking at everything from the ratio in classrooms to record-keeping when they drop into day care centers.

Deerwood Academy on the southside (Town Center location) had eight violation-free inspection reports in a row, including one in December.

“We have a wonderful team that implements many systems to ensure we stay compliant with DCF standards. Additionally, our families are great at following policies and procedures,” the day care’s chief operating officer said.

Second, the Wallace Enterprises Learning and Development Center in Moncrief had 10 clean reports. Management credits their high scores to the program being Christian-based and “filled with love.”
