• Jacksonville's Jumbo Shrimp holds Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. essay contest

    Jacksonville's Jumbo Shrimp is holding a Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. essay contest.This essay contest is in honor of Black History Month.

    Students who would like to participated are asked to write an essay on what Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have A Dream” speech means to them.

    Winners will get free tickets to the Jumbo Shrimp’s Jackie Robinson Day game at 7:05 p.m. on Monday, April 15 for their entire class, and visit from either Scampi or Southpaw.

    All K-12 students in Duval County, Clay County and St. Johns County can participate in the contest.

    Submission categories include grades K-5, grades 6-8 and grades 9-12. Entries are due by 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28 and should be sent to win@jaxshrimp.com.
