New numbers show Florida at the center of spreading HIV, AIDS epidemic

Miami has the highest new infection rate per capital compared to any other city in the United States according to the Centers for Disease Control.

Other major cities in Florida including Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando and Jacksonville round out the top 10 - with Jacksonville coming in at number 9.

Researcher said most new HIV infections come from people who don't know they have the virus.

The report also show more HIV infections progress to AIDS in Florida than any other state.

Doctors said that's because many people who start the anti-retro viral treatment don't stick with it.
