• Thousands of veterans to receive refund after Department of Defense computer glitch

    Updated:

Thousands of dollars are coming to injured veterans because of a computer glitch at the Department of Defense between 1991 and 2016.

The computer error caused tens of thousands of veterans to be mistakenly taxed for non-taxable disability severance payments.

Now the government is working to help veterans or their survivors get the money they are owed thanks to the Combat-Injured Veterans Tax Fairness Act of 2016

The Department of Defense started sending letters to affected families Monday and expects notifications to continue through Friday, July 20.
