City commission to discuss St. Augustine flooding concerns

St. Augustine, FL. — City commission to discuss St. Augustine flooding concerns.

Another round of flooding swept through parts of St. Augustine Sunday after heavy rains.

The same areas were hit with tidal flooding last week after a nor’easter brought high water.

The City of St. Augustine said it’s cleaning out drainage systems after rain water exceeded the capacity of the system Sunday.

A representative said the city also continues to replace old drains.

During a city commission meeting Monday, the Public Works Director, Reuben Franklin, will be providing an After Action Report regarding flooding that occurred because of the nor’easter.

The city said Franklin will make recommendations for community outreach and workshops to address what happened in specific areas and neighborhoods.

Neighbors in Davis Shores said not enough is being done to prevent flooding in their neighborhood.

Tica Walley has lived in the area since 1994 and said last week’s storm brought some of the worst flooding she has ever seen.

She told Action News Jax’s Robert Grant that she lost her car to rain flooding Sunday.
