A new program aims to make shopping on Amazon much easier for customers and for merchants. The company recently announced Buy with Prime, which expands the benefits of Amazon's loyalty program to more retailers.
In this article, I’ll go over some great things to know about Buy with Prime.
Buy With Prime: Here’s What You Need To Know
If you're a Prime member, you already know that membership has its privileges, including discounts you can find on Amazon.com and at Whole Foods.
Let’s get into some things to know about the Buy with Prime perk.
1. What Is Buy With Prime?
Buy with Prime is a program that allows U.S.-based Prime shoppers to get online deals from websites outside Amazon’s branded portfolio.
Amazon Prime Vice President Jamil Ghani says the new benefit is about giving customers more choices.
“We always aim to exceed Prime members’ expectations by offering more selection, exclusive deals, quality content, and convenient features,” Ghani says in a news release. “With the introduction of Buy with Prime, we’re expanding where members can enjoy trusted and convenient Prime shopping benefits beyond Amazon, adding even more value to their membership.”
What that means for Prime members is that there are more online stores where you can get the same benefits as you do now on Amazon.com:
- Fast and free delivery
- Seamless checkout process
- Free returns on eligible orders
Amazon says direct-to-consumer online businesses will be able to add Buy with Prime to give that option to shoppers.
2. How Does Buy With Prime Work?
Let’s say you’re looking for a particular product online.
When you find the item on a website, if you see the Buy with Prime logo, you’ll be able to buy the product and complete the checkout process with the same payment and address information associated with your Amazon account.
After the purchase, you’ll get shipping and delivery notifications just like you would for merchandise bought on Amazon.com.
3. How Can I Get Buy With Prime Deals?
- $14.99 per month
- $139 per year
5. When Will Buy With Prime Be Available?
Buy with Prime will launch gradually throughout the year as merchants are invited to participate, according to Amazon.
In the early going, Buy with Prime will be available only to online retailers that are already affiliated with the company’s Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) program, according to the news release.
Gradually, Buy with Prime will roll out to companies that don’t sell through FBA, but the Amazon release did not reveal a timetable as to when that will happen.
