Does your favorite sunscreen contain carcinogens?

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A testing lab is sounding the alarm about the sunscreen you use, saying some products have been contaminated with a cancer-causing substance.

In a letter to the Food and Drug Administration, testing lab company Valisure laid out their concerns with certain sunscreens.

Valisure said that 25% of the products they looked at have been contaminated with a carcinogen.

David Light is the CEO of Valisure, the company behind the study.

He says the carcinogen called benzene likely comes from how some of the products are manufactured.
