Firefighters battled early-morning storage fire

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — The St. Johns County Fire Rescue Department responded to a fire Monday morning.

The fire is at Atlantic Self Storage on Executive Way, just off A1A, just before 6 a.m.

Heavy smoke is seen from at least three units. SCJFR had a ladder set up to spray water on top of the fire, which was under control in about 20 minutes.

Several classic cars and motorcycles were reportedly destroyed in the fire.

"I have a classic car, Honda S 2000," said renter Jeff Brink. "They [officials] said the mirrors were melted, the convertible was melted, the bumpers were melted."

Firefighters said the most difficult part about the fighting the fire was gaining access to the root of the problem.

No one was reported injured in the fire.

The State Fire Marshal and SJCFR are investigating the incident.
