• 11 charged in Miami fuel theft ring that made $100K a month

MIAMI (AP) - Authorities say 11 people are facing felony charges for their roles in a Miami fuel theft ring that used stolen credit card numbers.

Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle told reporters Tuesday the thieves used so-called bladder tanks that were hidden inside trucks, vans and buses. She said they sold the stolen fuel at a discount to a Hialeah fuel company, which then sold it to other customers.

The credit card thefts came using skimmers at gas station pumps.

Investigators say the ring made about $100,000 a month in fraudulent transactions.

The 11 suspects are facing racketeering, conspiracy and several other charges.
