AAA predicts that more than half of Floridians will be taking a summer vacation this year. However, the good news is that AAA also said that only 25% of Floridians have planned that vacation so far, so travelers have time to beat out the competition for flights and hotels, which aren’t getting any cheaper.

According to AAA, 25% of Floridians are planning on flying this summer, 21% plan on taking a cruise and 87% plan on taking a road trip of some kind.

AAA also said to expect traffic near major attractions, such as beaches and theme parks, with gas prices highest in the spring and fluctuating throughout the summer.

In addition, despite 87% of Floridians planning a road trip this summer, AAA reports that 21% of those people won’t be getting a vehicle inspection before their road trip.

Experts advise that travelers get their vehicles checked before getting on the road to avoid getting stranded. AAA has a list of local mechanics on its website.
