TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has officially announced that the Florida Department of Health and the Florida Division of Emergency Management will no longer work with Quest Diagnostics.
The decision comes after Quest failed to report nearly 75,000 COVID-19 test results since April.
“The law requires all COVID-19 results to be reported to DOH in a timely manner,” DeSantis said after the announcement.
“To drop this much unusable data is irresponsible. I believe that Quest has abdicated their ability to perform a testing function in Florida that the people can be confident in. As such, I am directing all executive agencies to sever their COVID-19 testing relationships with Quest effective immediately.”
According to Quest, all individuals who tested positive for COVID-19 have been notified. The unreported test results will not impact individuals’ health or the spread of COVID-19 cases in Florida.
Quest Diagnostics is a large clinical lab found nationwide. It provides COVID-19 testing privately and through the state.
