Need a ride to vote? Local organization working to get people to the polls safely

FLORIDA — Souls to the Polls is a nationwide initiative that helps voters without a ride get to the polls. They typically help those with mobility issues or those without access to transportation.

Typically, the New Florida Majority, a Jacksonville organization, participates in the program and teams up with church leaders to drive cars full of voters to the polls.

Due to COVID-19, the group said it was forced to do something different.

“We have been partnering with rideshare apps, such as Lyft, to get vouchers to people,” Mone Holder with the New Florida Majority said. “So that way they’re able to go safely.”
