Suspect hurt in officer-involved shooting in the Arlington area

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — UPDATED 8:45 P.M :

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said officers were serving a warrant at the 6700 block of Morgana Road when shots were fired.

JSO said the suspect was wanted out of Jacksonville for kidnapping and armed robbery. When they arrived, Chief T.K. Waters said officers asked the man to come out six different times.

The suspect instead fired several rounds at officers, who Waters said did not fire back, but took cover behind their cars. They asked four more times for him to come out, which is when they learned he had a hostage inside.

Police said the woman did safely get out.

Jennifer Kline manages a nearby bar. She said she spoke to the woman. “She was beside herself. She was most worried about her dog. She has a couple dogs and was very upset.”

Police said the suspect eventually leaned out a side window and officers fired multiple times. He was taken to the hospital in critical, but stable condition.

Chief Waters said the suspect fired multiple rounds three different times at officers before they fired back. No officers were hurt in the shooting.
