JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — It's been nearly one year since 11-year-old Terry Bryant Jr. was hit and killed on his walk home from his bus stop in Arlington.
His mother, Tanya Brown, spoke to Action News Jax tonight to warn drivers to be cautious of students walking to and from school and bus stops.
Thousands of area students will return to school next week.
"While we're watching other people let their children go to school safely, coming home, talking about their day," she said. "We're not going to have those moments with him."

New data from the Transportation Research Board shows about 100 kids are killed in crashes every year walking to or from school, and about 25,000 are injured.
The agency says nearly one in four child pedestrian fatalities happen between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Police say the boy was hit around 4:30 p.m.
Brown was surprised the hear the Transportation Research Board statistics.
"If I would've heard this before my son got hit, I would've said that'll never be my child," she said. "But you just never know."
