1 man, 3 crimes: Carjacking, hit-and-run, and robbery ends outside Jacksonville Publix, police say

Jacksonville, Fla. — A man is behind bars Wednesday following a string of action-packed crimes that ended at a Jacksonville Publix, Jacksonville investigators say.

On May 12 at approximately 10:30 a.m., a person called the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office claiming they had witnessed a carjacking moments before at Bartram Rd. and Atlantic Blvd. and were in the process of following the suspect.

Minutes later, the witness told police the carjacking suspect committed a hit-and-run at the intersection of Atlantic and University Blvd. The witness was still following the suspect when he said the man turned into a Publix parking lot, parked, and entered the store.

JSO said while the suspect was inside Publix, he robbed someone.

Officers told Action News Jax they located the man inside the Publix and arrested him.

At the time of his arrest JSO said the suspect appeared to be suffering from unknown health issues was transported to a local hospital in non-life threatening condition.
