PALATKA, Fla. — A 4-year-old girl was found wandering a Palatka Walmart alone, according to the Palatka Police Department.
Police said Thursday evening someone found the young girl walking around the Walmart parking lot at 1024 State Road 19 south. The good Samaritan took the girl to the customer service counter.
When police arrived, they determined that Edward Hars left his 4-year-old niece unattended in his vehicle for 20 minutes while he was shopping. When Har was done shopping, he got into his vehicle and drove to the exit of the parking lot where he realized the child was not in the car, according to police.
Harrs returned to the store and went to the customer service desk, where he found the child.
Police said Hars was taken into custody and arrested on suspicion of child neglect. Hars was transported to the Putnam County Jail, where he will be held on a $5,000 bond.
The child was returned safely to the family, according to police.
