6 months later, no arrests in triple murder of young couple, baby

Six months to the day since a young Jacksonville couple and their baby were murdered in their home, there are still no arrests.

In that time, First Coast Crime Stoppers said only four tips have come in.

“I wish someone would come forward, or the person who did it would turn themselves in,” said family member Juffure Richardson.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said a baby and her young parents were murdered in their home on India Avenue two weeks before Christmas, and the family’s Christmas tree was set on fire.

Action News Jax sources said little Arielle Trotter died of smoke inhalation.

They said her parents, Ariyan Johnson and Quasean Trotter, were shot and killed.

“Did you ever think it would be six months?” Action News Jax Reporter Russell Colburn asked Richardson.

”No, I thought maybe someone would be arrested by now, or someone who cares or who knows anything would have come forward,” Richardson replied.

Tuesday, Action News Jax sent the JSO several questions about the case, including if detectives have any suspects or persons of interest.

The Public Information Officer responded in part: "It is an ongoing investigation… there have been no arrest(s)… and there is nothing new to release."

Our Action News Jax Crime and Safety Expert, Ken Jefferson, believes the victims had to have known the killer, since officers did reveal there was no signs of  forced entry into the home.

Today, Arielle Trotter should be 17 months old.

Richardson can't help but think what could've been.

“Every single day, I think about how she would have looked now, what she would have been doing; it's a lot to think about,” Richardson said.

Crime Stoppers is offering a $3,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest.
