JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — An Action News Jax investigation uncovered it’s taking JSO dispatchers slightly longer to answer your 911 call.
In the first half of 2019, the average answer time was 6.8 seconds.

The average ring time was 5 seconds in January and February. In March and April, it was 4 seconds.
There was a spike in the month of May where it took on average 14 seconds to answer.
JSO said it’s looking into the reason for the increase. A spokesperson said they are trying to determine if the numbers given to them by a vendor are accurate.
The average ring time decreased to 9 seconds in June.

In 2018, the average answer time in Jacksonville was 6.6 seconds.
For comparison, the average ring time was 5.2 seconds in St. Johns County in 2018.
Right now, it’s 5.03.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office said it doesn’t keep record of the ring time.
