Action News questions brightness of EverBank Field video boards

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Driver Brian Phelan said you can't miss them.

"I saw the glow in the sky and it was the scoreboards," he said.

Jaguars fan Brian Helm said he can see them from his house.

"I can see them pretty bright at night from where I'm standing in my neighborhood," he said.

The newly installed video boards at EverBank Field are up and running.  And for the first time

,

we're seeing just how bright they can get.

"I believe they'll draw a lot of attention," said Helm.

So much attention that it begs the question -- will they distract drivers on the Hart Expressway?

So, Action News reached out to the Jaguars communications team for some answers.

Its senior vice president told us the team did take traffic concerns into consideration.  He said the boards are being tested, and what we see now may not be what we see later.

"I think they're great," said Helm.

"I don't think it's going to be a distraction," said Phelan. "But I think it's going be a blessing to anyone who goes to the game because it's going to be clear."

The new video boards will be officially unveiled July 26 during a Carrie Underwood concert.
