All U.S. military troops required to get COVID-19 vaccine

On Wednesday, the Pentagon announced troops must immediately get the COVID-19 vaccine following Pfizer’s official FDA approval.

Defense secretary Lloyd Austin is looking to impose ambitious timelines for implementation, although no specifics are mentioned.

Requiring vaccines isn’t new for the military. Other vaccines for smallpox, hepatitis, polio and the flu are mandated as well.

Military forces will have to regularly report their vaccination progress.

Troops can get their Pfizer shots on base and from commands around the world.
