Amtrak train hits semi on tracks in Putnam County

According to Amtrak, a train hit a semi that was on the tracks Thursday in Putnam County.

The collision happened at 10:36 a.m. at 890 Highway 17 at the entrance to Seminole Electric.

There were 166 passengers were on the train at the time of the crash. As the semi tried to cross the tracks, the railroad crossing arms lowered onto the trailer of the semitruck. The train then struck the trailer, troopers said.

Six people were taken to the hospital.
