Arlington apartment complex has final day to fix residents’ issues before city inspection

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Today is the last day for the owners of the Miramar Apartments in Arlington to fix residents’ complaints, including leaking roofs and broken windows not being repaired.

It’s a story Action News Jax first told you about last month.

Since then the city of Jacksonville has cited the apartment complex asking them to clean up their act. The city of Jacksonville told Acton News Jax, they will be out at that apartment complex tomorrow.

“I have seen certain issues here,” says Terranze Session.

Session has a brother who lives inside the Miramar Apartments.

He says his current apartment is livable, but there are a lot of things that need to be fixed.

He showed us chipped paint inside of their bathroom and even cracked ceilings that were located inside their bathroom.

“This is what we have to deal with every time we clean the bathtub, the paint comes off. I can scrape my hand and that stuff just falls off. I guarantee their house and also bathroom doesn’t look like this,” says Session.

Session believes this can be a health hazard if not taken care of properly.

He also showed us a hole large enough hole for a person to crawl inside, located below their apartment in a vacant apartment.

“Just look at it, hello anyone home? So what can I do just walk in,” says Session.

Session believes this problem could be easily addressed.

“The apartment is empty. To me I believe if no one is going to be living there I think they should have a board there,” says Session.

In late November several residents complained to us about their apartment conditions.

One resident sent us photos of their ceiling gutted.

The damage happened when his neighbor’s A/C unit living above him leaked through the ceiling.

We went inside the leasing office to see if those problems along with Session’s problems were going to be addressed.

After a very short conversation with the representative, she asked us to leave the property.
