2 men charged with murder after teen shot at Jacksonville Walmart

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Two men are charged with the murder of a 19-year-old who was shot in the parking lot of a Jacksonville Walmart.

Michael Wayne Carter II, 21, turned himself in Monday night four hours after officers asked for the public's help in finding him.

His accomplice, 18-year-old D'andre Cohen, was arrested last week in connection with the murder of Peter Perez-Corona.

Police said Perez-Corona and two people came to the Walmart near Regency on Tuesday night to sell someone they didn't know marijuana.

Cohen and Carter showed up to the Walmart without the agreed upon amount of money, police said.

Police said Cohen came up to the car Perez-Corona was inside, pulled a gun and tried to rob them.

Police said Perez-Corona got out of the car to try and stop Cohen and was shot in the face.

Cohen and Carter fled the Walmart.

People who were with Perez-Corona when he was shot identified Cohen as the shooter from a photo spread.

He was arrested on October 20.

Perez-Corona died from his injuries the next day and Cohen's attempted murder charge was upgraded to murder.

After Cohen's arrest, police identified Carter as the second suspect.
