Sarasota-bound flight diverted to JAX airport

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A flight headed from Atlanta to Sarasota, Florida, on Wednesday afternoon had to be diverted to Jacksonville International Airport.

Delta flight DL 2619 was diverted at 1:25 p.m. due to a reported overheating generator, according to Jacksonville Administration Authority Community Relations Administrator Debbie Jones.

The MD-88 aircraft had 155 people on board. Jones said the passengers have made it to their final destination.

(Note: An earlier version of this story said the flight was headed from Sarasota to Atlanta. This has been corrected)
