ATLANTIC BEACH, Fla. — The Atlantic Beach Police Department sent a warning about a new scam.
The scammer claims to be a loved one who was in a crash and needs money for hospital bills.
According to the Facebook post, the caller even puts the "loved one" on the phone and says their voice sounds different because of a broken nose.
In a Facebook comment, Police Chief Michelle Cook said the scammers almost convinced her parents, but they called Cook before doing anything.
