Ultralight vehicle down in Baker County, pilot critically injured

BAKER COUNTY, Fla. — UPDATED STORY 11/14/2020 9:31 p.m.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the vehicle lost power while it was flying across State Road 121. It then started to rapidly descend from the air and struck the ground in Macclenny, FL.

The pilot was critically injured from the crash.

The vehicle was a 2000 Homemade Red Airplane, Single Engine-Vehicle 1.

ORIGINAL STORY: An ultralight vehicle is down in Baker County near FL-121 and Harley Thrift Rd, according to the sheriff’s office.

Action News Jax has reached out to the FAA for details and they said, “the FAA does not investigate ultralight accidents because they are not aircrafts.”
