12:30 p.m. update: JSO says a man is charged with murder after he reportedly told police he killed his wife inside his Bartram Park home.
Jacksonville Sheriff's Office has identified the woman found dead as Jennifer Herbert.
JSO said they got a call from Flagler County deputies Monday requesting they check on the wellbeing of Herbert at the home on White Blossom Circle.
JSO said deputies were holding Wilford Gerald Chason under the Baker Act after he claimed he had killed his wife.

In 1999, the 51YO did time for:

JSO said officers found her body in the home and suspected foul play.
Chason was taken to the Daytona Beach Police Department and JSO issued a warrant for murder.
Chason did not give a reason for the murder, according to JSO.
Officers said an autopsy is still being performed on Herbert.

FDLE records show Chason was a registered sex offender. He served prison time for robbery, attempted kidnapping and indecent assault of a child under 16 in 1999, according to public records.

Tuesday update: A man who lives at the Bartram Park home where a woman's body was found Monday has been charged with murder, records show.

The warrant says "the defendant was arrested by virtue of an active warrant from Duval County, Florida in reference murder in the second degree (Domestic)."
According to public records, Chason lives at the home where the woman's body was found Monday.
FDLE records show Chason was a registered sex offender.
Neighbors said police came to their doors asking about the man.
Police haven’t said how the victim was killed.

Original story: Jacksonville officers found a woman dead in Bartram Park after a man pulled over in Daytona Beach told officers he killed her, according to JSO.
Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said Daytona Beach police got a call Monday about a driver in distress on I-95.
JSO said Daytona Beach police took the man into custody and brought him to a hospital. While there, police said he claimed he had killed somebody at a home in Duval County.

Daytona Beach police notified JSO around 12:30 p.m., and officers went to the home in the Twinleaf subdivision in Bartram Park.
While conducting a welfare check, JSO said officers found a woman dead inside the home on White Blossom Circle.
Officers have not identified the woman, but said foul play is suspected in her death.
The man in custody in Daytona Beach has not been identified.
JSO said officers are gathering evidence at the Bartram Park home.
They are asking anyone with information about the death to call JSO.
