ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — Update 5:50 a.m. 11/28/2019: JEA official lifted a boil water advisory in North St. Johns County after testing of water samples from affected areas came back clear.
Original Story: JEA has issued a Boil Water Advisory for JEA customers located west of St Johns Parkway, south of Longleaf Pine Parkway and Cunningham Creek, including the following neighborhoods:
- Parts of Julington Creek Plantation (south of Durbin Creek Blvd, adjacent to Flora Branch Blvd)
- Parts of Durbin Crossing (south of Lauriston Dr)
- Johns Creek
- South Hampton
The advisory is due to a raw water well at St. Johns North Water Treatment Plant testing positive for E.coli, JEA said.
This sample point is prior to the water being treated with chlorine for disinfection, and there are no indications of any issues in the distribution system, JEA said.
As a precaution, additional samples in the distribution system will be analyzed to ensure the water is safe.
The BWA should be lifted by Thursday morning at 6 a.m. if all samples are clear. Once it is clear, a notice will be issued.
