SAD UPDATE: Missing skydiver found dead in Bradford County

BRADFORD COUNTY, Fla. — UPDATED STORY 11/13/2020 9:53 p.m. Krawl’n for the Fallen had the following to say:

"Today at Krawl’n for the Fallen we suffered a horrible tragedy.

During routine sky diving practice for tomorrow’s opening ceremony one of the jumpers had an issue with his primary parachute. He cut away and deployed the second but landed in very dense overgrowth area.

We had boots on the ground within seconds and many responses from multidisciplinary agency’s including Shands Air.

Video footage from the jump was able to help the emergency crews narrow the grid. He was located and it was announced he had passed from his injuries.

We want to thank everyone that helped with the rescue and recovery.

The sky diving team 100% want to jump tomorrow and honor their friend. We are hoping to make that happen for them.

UPDATED STORY 11/13/2020 7:38 p.m. According to Undersheriff Major Brad Smith the skydiver was found dead.

ORIGINAL STORY 11/13/2020: The Bradford County Sheriff’s Office and Bradford County Fire Rescue are looking for a skydiver whose parachute did not open at Keystone Heights Airport, Friday evening.

According to the Bradford County Fire Rescue Facebook page, the parachute did not open and the patient hasn’t been located.

Multiple agencies are working in the wooded area surrounding the property to find the skydiver.

According to Undersheriff Major Brad Smith, a group of parachuters were doing a round of practices for tomorrow’s “Krawl’n for the Fallen” event.

Practices were successful but they decided to do one last “fun” jump.

That’s when one skydiver had a “partial development."

Major Smith told Action News Jax that a videographer was filming at the time of the accident and caught when the skydiver was trying to deploy and then dropped.

Hundreds of civilians are searching for the missing skydiver.
