JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said it was called out to the Little Jetties beach, just off A1A in Mayport, around 11 a.m. Wednesday because of a report of a vehicle submerged in the water.

The dive team checked and didn't find anyone inside the car.
It's unclear how the vehicle ended up in the water, but a viewer sent Action News Jax photos that appear to show something holding down the gas pedal.
The Coast Guard said that JSO reported that the vehicle was stolen. Action News Jax reached out to JSO to confirm but we are still waiting to hear back.
JSO said it's working to get in touch with the car's owner.
