During a briefing Friday morning, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said three people were found shot in a vehicle around 2 a.m. near Verbena Street.

When police arrived, a patrol car stopped a vehicle -- as it was speeding away from the area.

Police said of the four men in the vehicle, three were shot. They were transferred to a hospital, where one of the shooting victims died.

The mother of the victim killed tells Action News Jax he was her 17-year-old son.

She believes her son was targeted and says two days ago, he was shot outside a home.

The other two men who were shot were released from the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to JSO.

JSO is asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact Crime Stoppers.
