Bystanders pull person from ocean near St. Augustine Beach Pier

Fire rescue crews say a person is in critical condition after being pulled from the ocean in St. Johns County.

St. Johns County Fire Rescue and deputies were called to a possible drowning in the area of the St. Augustine Beach Pier at approximately 1 p.m.

Firefighters found the patient unresponsive on the beach and began immediate life saving efforts, officials said.

Several bystanders reportedly saw the patient in the water and brought them to shore.

The patient was taken to Flagler Hospital in critical condition.
