ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — Video obtained by Action News Jax shows St. Johns County Sheriff's Office cruisers and Fire Rescue units taking a 7-year-old who has cancer to school.
We told you earlier this month when 7-year-old Arcolia Bailey found out he was going to Disney World in December.
"He just got released to go back to school," Octavia Bailey, the boy's mother, said Monday morning. "And that's what they promised him. When he finished treatment and stuff this was what they were going to do for him, and they did it."
We spoke to Octavia Bailey earlier this month when the boy found out he was going to Disney, thanks to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
"He's more excited than anything," she said.
We also heard from the deputy who offered to take him on the trip, Sgt. Napolian Staggers. The Make-A-Wish Foundation extended the trip from two days to seven.
"He's never been out of St. Augustine. He's never been to a theme park. He's never done anything like that, so I just want to get him to Disney World, so he can go and have fun for a couple of days," Staggers said.
In a phone conversation today, Octavia Bailey told Action News Jax reporter Ryan Nelson that Arcolia Bailey will undergo another round of chemotherapy on Tuesday night, and he'll be in and out of school as his treatment continues.
