Church's parking lot vandalized after someone did doughnuts in it

Church members woke up Saturday morning to find out Forest Boulevard Baptist Church’s parking lot was vandalized.

Randy Roberts has been a member of the church for about 15 years, and this morning, he didn’t expect to see the tire marks and doughnuts next to his church.

“It’s not monetary, it’s not that much of a big deal, but it’s just the idea being in a church or anywhere, but especially a church,” said Roberts.

Roberts said it’s worse knowing it’s a day before Easter.

“It’s very disheartening, just an act of vandalism," he said.

Forest Boulevard Baptist Church will host dozens of people Sunday for Easter.

Ken Hill is the music director of the church and has been playing piano for his congregation for the last few years.

Hill told Action News Jax the church doesn’t have any surveillance cameras, but after what happened, that may change.

“I guess I’m going to have to put some cameras up, put some security or something there,” said Hill.

Cliff Taylor and his family came out to decorate a cross outside the church with flowers like they do every year the day before Easter.

Despite finding out someone had torn up their parking lot, they’ll be at the church for service tomorrow.

“We’ll survive no matter what they do, so you know. The church is not the building, it’s the unity of people inside,” said Taylor.

Forest Boulevard Baptist Church officials tell Action News Jax they plan on having their regular Easter service Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
