Clay commission's vote could pave way for higher property taxes

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — The Clay County Board of Commissioners approved a measure that could pave the way for higher property taxes.     

The board voted 3 to 2 on Tuesday night to increase the maximum millage rate allowed in the county to 8.45. The 2014 rate was 7.851.

The final vote on whether to raise property taxes will be held in September.
