Clay teen injured in ATV accident dies at hospital

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — A teen who was injured in an ATV accident with his father died Thursday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Kameron Clark, 17, was in critical condition at UF Health after the ATV he was riding with his father was hit by a truck Tuesday, according to FHP.

The crash happened just before 9 p.m. on Russell Road near Watkins Road in Green Cove Springs.

FHP said Kameron and his father Thomas Clark, 51, were stopped in the middle of the road when they were hit by a teen driving a pickup truck.

They had been involved in a previous accident that evening, according to FHP.

The father and son were thrown from the ATV, which flipped over and came to rest on the shoulder. Neither were wearing helmets.

According to the FHP report, 18-year-old Jeremy Truesdell did not see the ATV in the middle of the road as he approached in his truck.

Family told Action News Jax that Thomas Clark is at UF Health with a broken leg and ribs but will be fine.

Alcohol tests are still pending for Thomas and Truesdell.
