• CCSO: Man held at gunpoint, arrested on suspicion of firing gun at home

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. - The Clay County Sheriff's Office says a man was held at gunpoint after he fired a gun at a home on Friday.

CCSO was called to 7150 Wheaton Street for a disturbance. Dispatch advised that the man, identified as Joshua Russell Jr.,  got into a dark-colored Ford car after firing the gun.

Deputies observed a Ford Taurus leaving the residence and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle. The vehicle made no attempt to stop and increased in speed. Deputies lost sight of the vehicle on Clemson Street.

Later, a deputy returned to the Wheaton Street address and observed the Ford Taurus with no tag attached parked in front of the residence. A male subject was sitting in the driver seat.

The subject was held at gunpoint and given verbal commands to turn off the vehicle and leave his hands out the window. He was then instructed to exit the vehicle. He complied and was taken into custody.

A 9 mm pistol was observed in plain view sitting in the passenger seat of the vehicle, the Sheriff's Office said. An investigation is ongoing.
