Clay County Sheriff's Office searching for wanted sexual predator, police say

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — The Clay County Sheriff's Office is searching for wanted sexual predator, Kurt Eric Helmich.
Helmich has a warrant out of Jacksonville, Fla., but his last know address was in Keystone Heights, Fla.

He is 48 years old, 5’7”, weighing around 130 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.  Helmich's was of transportation is unknown.

He has run away from felony probation for crimes against children. He could be anywhere. CCSO is assisting Probation and Parole in determining his location.

Clay County deputies said Helmich last lived in a wooded area of Keystone Heights on Almond Court, but when they dropped by to check on him he wasn’t there.

Ralph Roland lives in that area.
"It's bad," Roland said.  "I got a neighbor right down the street. She's got a young kid, and it's a pretty isolated area out here so it'd be easy for him to hide out or break into any of the buildings out here."
Court documents show earlier this month, Helmich failed to report to his probation office and dropped his monitoring device somewhere in the woods near his home

“Just turn yourself in,” Roland said.  “They’ll find you eventually.”

A neighbor told Action News Jax she saw Helmich at a Middleburg gas station Monday.  We passed that information on to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.
