Expect road closures Thursday for Clay County Sgt. Eric Twisdale’s funeral procession

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — Family and community members will pay their final respects to Sgt. Eric Twisdale, of the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.

The 49-year-old, who worked in the line of duty for more than two decades, died last week after battling COVID-19.

The sheriff’s office will escort Twisdale to St. Luke Catholic Church in Middleburg, where his funeral will be held Thursday morning. Southbound traffic on Blanding Boulevard from I-295 to Old Jennings Road will be shut down from 10:15 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.

CCSO will then escort him to the gravesite, shutting down northbound traffic on Blanding Boulevard from Old Jennings Road to I-295 from 12:15 p.m. to 1 p.m.

Deputies expect heavy congestion from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Old Jennings Road and Blanding Boulevard.

The public is invited to line Blanding Boulevard during the procession.
